Vincas Ruzgas
Pseudonims: V. Alausas, V. Rykste.

Vincas Ruzgas was born in Uzpaliai district, village of Plepesiskiai in 1892. He died in Kaunas on May 26, 1972. He was an honoured educator, a museum worker, and librarian. He got primary education taught by tutor Jurgis Braukyla as well as graduated from two years folk school in 1906. Vincas Ruzgas lived in Petrograd and studied at Pedagogical institute in 1908–1921. After graduating from the institute in 1921, he returned to Lithuania. Activity:

  • Member of Educators' trade-union and a director of it in 1922.
  • Founder of the regular exhibition of the tools made by schoolchildren.
  • One of the founders of Press fund and later a director of it.
  • Member of the group for organizing instructional aids museum in 1925.
  • Member of the "Pedagogical hours" broadcast Committee in 1930.
  • Director of Lithuanian Librarians' Association in 1931.
  • Chairman of Lithuanian Teachers' Association in 1936–1940.
  • Publisher of pedagogical journal "School and society" from 1933.
  • Director Kaunas Vincas Kudirka public library till 1940.
  • Head of Kaunas School-board in 1940–194.
  • Teacher in Kaunas in 1944–1959.
  • Director of Vytautas Magnus university library in 1946–1958.
  • Director of Lithuania Pedagogical museum in 1958–1972.

Books: "How to pick herbs and make collections" (1925), Textbook for carton works and bookbinding" (1926), Making collections from nature goodies" (1927), "Methodical basics of nature" (1929), "Works from wood and metal" (1930), "Catalogue of the Central pedagogical library" (1932), "Parenting" (1935), "Textbook for libraries" (1937), "Nature textbook" (1940), etc.

In 1932 Vincas Ruzgas was an editor of the information publication "Lithuania". He was a translator of some books on nature and cooperation topics as well as an contributor about of 500 articles.
