A. Lending: Books and periodicals are lent out to readers who have a Reader's card in The Adult Readers Serving Department. In the branch libraries books and periodicals are lent out to readers who are registered at these branches. For the users from Lithuania or foreign countries who have permanent residence, publications are lent out for a deposit. Books are lent out for one month. The library has a right to set a shorter term for study books, new books and books in great demand at its discretion (for example to reduce loan period, or to ask for a deposit). Periodicals are lent out for 10 days.
Publications which are not issued for loan: rare and valuable publications; reference publications (encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries); last copy of books in great demand; publications odered and received by Interlibrary loan from other Lithuanian libraries; periodicals - current issues and volumes. Publications that are not lent out may be read in reading rooms. Books are not delivered to those readers who have failed to return borrowed matter.

Q. May the loan term be renewed for one month once again after it had been renewed for one month already?
A. The loan term may be renewed for one month once again if: he book has not been ordered by another reader has reserved it; the loan term has not ended. We advise you to renew the loan term one day prior to the end of the loan term.

Recording is 0,50 Lt. extra. Copier: A 4 format one side copy – 0,15 Lt., A 4 format (a page) double side copy – 0,30 Lt., A 3 format one side copy – 0,30 Lt., A 3 format (a page) double side copy – 0,60 Lt.

Q. What to do if the Reader's card is lost?
A. Fee for Reader's card - for adults - 6 Lt., for schoolchildren, pensionary, unemployed - 3 Lt. If the Reader's card is lost, he/she must pay again in order to obtain a new one. Readers are required to report loss of the Reader's card. If he/she fails to inform the library about the loss, he/she is responsible for books and other documents borrowed and not returned by any other person with this card.
Q. What to do if a publication is lost?
A. Upon losing the book or upon damaging publication or other document irreparably the reader is required to replace it by the same edition or by an equivalent item approved by the library, or to recompense tenfold its market price. The parents or foster-parents are responsible for lost or damaged publications by minors.
Q. Why do I need Reader's card?
A. The same Reader's card can be used to make loans from all the public libraries in Lithuania, which have implemented LIBIS 'Service to reader's' subsystem. Also you can: to borrow publications from the library; to use Interlibrary loan services; to get the bibliographer's assistance having no computer skills, or for searching for information at the catalogs, card indexes, data bases and internet sources.
